Noémie WEINSTEIN - Artist in residence, June, 2016

Noémie Weinstein lives and works in Montreal, Québec. Her painting and drawing explores the notions of temporality, loneliness and absence through the representation of architectural spaces. Her works show a silent and distant world where human absence is everywhere, creating sometimes and heavy atmosphere. Her work plays on oppositions such as form and formlessness, rigor and flexibility, abundance and emptiness. Several influences are essential to her thinking like Franz Kafka or Andreï Tarkovski.

Born in France, Noémie Weinstein graduated a master degree from the School of Fine Arts in Bourges, France in 2012. Then she moved to Montreal and made a master in visual and mediaarts at UQÀM (University of Quebec in Montreal). She obtained in 2012 the excellenceaward FARE, and graduated in 2016 in UQÀM. Her work has been exhibited in several artcenters in Canada in solo and group exhibition.
