Márta KUCSORA
Working at the intersection of material experimentation, movement, and natural processes, Hungarian artist Márta Kucsora creates large-scale abstract paintings that explore the shifting relationship between control and chance. Her practice is rooted in a highly physical, process-driven approach in which liquid paint, gravity, chemical reactions, and the movement of materials become active forces in the creation of the work. Rather than depicting nature, Kucsora works with processes that echo its behavior—flow, erosion, expansion, collision, and transformation—allowing forms to emerge across the canvas at both microscopic and cosmic scales.
Kucsora has developed a distinctive brushless painting technique using materials of varying densities, industrial tools, pigments, lacquers, and unconventional additives. Her works evolve through carefully choreographed yet partially unpredictable sequences, balancing precise preparation with moments in which the material is allowed to determine its own direction. The resulting surfaces appear suspended between fluidity and stillness, capturing a particular moment within an ongoing process of transformation.
